Where have I been?

I've been getting some feedback: Where are you? Why don't you write more posts?
So where have I been? I've been, you know, running down a dream. That is to say, chasing a deadline. Working like a fiend so that by a particular date in December, another book will be written. "Written" is a little misleading because a book isn't truly finished until all the revisions and edits and revisions and edits and revisions are done. But I'll have a draft to submit, a draft of the sequel to Violet Wings. So yeah, I've been r-e-a-l-l-y busy, which is my latest excuse for neglecting my blog. I've also been taking some time very day to savor the moments of life: gazing at sunrise and moonrise, hugging loved ones, listening. . .
I hope you're savoring the moments, too. And giving your imagination a place to run free.

I'm trying to get a rough draft finished, and you're right; a rough draft doesn't make a book done.

Too true! But it's such a significant step. Keep going!

There's something to be said about reading the blogs of published authors. It makes the dream attainable, doesn't it? I hope this one goes smoothly. I've only finished "Seer and the Sword" and "Light of the Oracle" the last two days (one book a day) and will be reading "Healer's Keep" tonight on my breaks and lunch at work. Thank you for being an inspiration and I'll definitely check out your book on YA writing. I'll look for "Violet Wings" at the library and the bookstore where I work.

All while doing these things, I'll be working on (another) draft of (another) story. I've never finished one. I get bogged down and new ideas keep popping up. But I think this one will haunt me.

Again, thank you for keeping a blog. Thank you again and again.

What is the sequel to Violet Wings called? When will it come out?

It's called INDIGO BOTTLE. I don't have a date yet in America.

p.s. Sorry to be such a laggard with replies!

To Goldie,

Sorry to be so late responding. . . eek! It's actually past tax day now. Anyway, you're welcome for the blog (such as it is!). I'll try to be a more regular about it.

And the haunting ideas are the ones to go after. I recommend finishing at least one story, even if you have to tell yourself every step of the way that it's okay if it's badly written. I think every writer hits a point where going forward to 'the end' just seems too hard. But, as I tell myself over and over, you can always go back and polish later. And when you finish one story, you have delivered a powerful message to your creative self.
